Dutch TT at Assen Wins Best MotoGP Grand Prix of 2025
The iconic Dutch TT held at TT Circuit Assen has been crowned the Best Grand Prix of 2025 by MotoGP, recognizing the event’s outstanding organization, fan experience and historic significance.
The prestigious award evaluates every aspect of a MotoGP race weekend—from circuit operations and fan engagement to paddock services and overall event experience. Teams, riders and paddock stakeholders all take part in the voting process.
For 2025, the Dutch Grand Prix emerged as the winner, capping off a memorable year that also marked 100 years of motorcycle racing in Assen.
A Century of Racing History
Assen holds a unique place in the history of MotoGP. The circuit has hosted the world championship since the sport’s inaugural season in 1949, making it the venue with the longest continuous association with the series.
The 2025 Dutch Grand Prix was particularly significant as it celebrated a century since motorcycle racing first began in the Assen region, reinforcing its reputation as one of the sport’s most historic and revered venues.
Record-Breaking Crowd in 2025
The 2025 edition of the race attracted more than 200,000 spectators, setting a new attendance record for the Dutch GP.
Fans enjoyed a weekend that combined thrilling on-track action with a festival-style atmosphere, featuring music performances, flypasts, fireworks and an elaborate opening ceremony. The podium celebration at Assen—where the bikes rise on a lift—remains one of the most distinctive in MotoGP.
The event has evolved into one of the largest sporting events in the Netherlands, while still preserving its deep-rooted racing heritage.
Organisers Celebrate the Recognition
Arjan Bos, Chairman of the Board at TT Circuit Assen, praised the collective effort behind the award-winning event.
“This award is a huge compliment to everyone who delivers the Dutch GP. We’ve built the event around three pillars: putting the sport first, putting our fans first and adding entertainment that makes the weekend truly unique,” Bos said.
“Combined with our century of racing history and the great names engraved on the trophy, this is exactly what we set out to build years ago — and we’ll keep raising the bar.”
MotoGP Leadership Applauds Assen’s Legacy
Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of the MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group, highlighted the circuit’s importance to the championship.
“Assen has a special place in the hearts of many MotoGP fans and it is easy to understand why,” Ezpeleta said. “The venue today is a modern circuit with incredibly high standards, creating amazing races, and its history speaks for itself.”
He added that the Best Grand Prix award is highly competitive, making Assen’s achievement even more significant.
