GreenCell Mobility to Deploy 570 Electric Buses in Delhi Following $89 Million Investment Round
New Delhi – February 2026: GreenCell Mobility (GCM), India’s largest electric bus platform and a flagship company in Eversource Capital’s portfolio, has announced plans to deploy 570 electric buses in Delhi in the coming months, accelerating the capital’s transition towards zero-emission public transport.
The large-scale rollout follows the completion of an USD 89 million investment round led by International Finance Corporation (IFC), British International Investment (BII), and Tata Capital, underscoring strong institutional confidence in GreenCell Mobility’s ability to deliver scalable and sustainable electric mobility solutions across India.
The Delhi Government recently flagged off 500 electric buses at a ceremony held at Ramlila Maidan, led by Hon’ble Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Shri Nitin Nabin, National President, BJP. The event marked a key milestone in Delhi’s efforts to expand clean and energy-efficient public transport infrastructure.
As part of the project, GreenCell Mobility will supply 12-metre, air-conditioned electric city buses with higher battery capacities, purpose-built to meet Delhi’s demanding operating conditions. The buses will operate from depots at Rajghat, Dilshad Garden, and Seemapuri, improving commuter connectivity and strengthening public transport services across major routes in the city.
Each electric bus is equipped with advanced safety and operational technologies, including an Integrated Transport Management System (ITMS), Passenger Information Systems, real-time vehicle tracking, internal and reversing cameras, and infrastructure designed to support differently abled passengers. These features aim to deliver safe, accessible, and efficient mobility for daily commuters.
Commenting on the deployment, Devndra Chawla, Managing Director and CEO of GreenCell Mobility, said the Delhi rollout reflects a shift from pilot projects to city-wide adoption of electric public transport. He highlighted the role of institutional capital, supportive policy frameworks, and operational capability in enabling large-scale clean mobility deployments.
Beyond Delhi, GreenCell Mobility is executing major electric bus projects across several states, including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Gujarat, and Puducherry. The company is also operating intercity electric buses for the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), expanding its footprint across both urban and intercity transport segments.
Backed by Eversource Capital, GreenCell Mobility currently operates more than 1,200 electric buses nationwide, supported by over 270 charging stations. With projects awarded under the National E-Bus Program and the PM Seva E-Mobility Program, the company plans to scale its fleet to over 3,700 electric buses following the recent funding round.
Through its intercity brand NueGo, GreenCell Mobility operates India’s largest premium electric coach network, connecting over 100 locations across the country. The NueGo fleet offers long-range electric coaches with a driving range of up to 250 km per charge.
