Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Crosses 50,000-Unit Production Milestone for Kylaq

Pune, India: Škoda Auto Volkswagen India Private Limited (SAVWIPL) has achieved a major manufacturing milestone with the production of 50,000 units of the Škoda Kylaq, reinforcing the Group’s strong commitment to the Government of India’s Make in India initiative. The milestone highlights the growing scale and localisation of the Group’s operations in the Indian automotive market.

The Škoda Kylaq has emerged as a key growth driver for Škoda Auto Volkswagen India, contributing significantly to the Group’s 36 per cent year-on-year growth in 2025. This performance has been supported by increased production capacity, deeper localisation, and a focus on vehicles engineered in India for both domestic and global markets.

The milestone was commemorated at a special event attended by Shri H.D. Kumaraswamy, Union Cabinet Minister of Heavy Industries and Minister of Steel, who congratulated the company on its achievement and reaffirmed the importance of the ‘Made in India’ initiative in strengthening India’s manufacturing ecosystem.

Commenting on the occasion, Piyush Arora, Managing Director and CEO, Škoda Auto Volkswagen India, thanked the Honourable Minister for his presence and said the 50,000-unit milestone reflects the strong trust customers have placed in the Kylaq. He noted that the vehicle, built on the MQB-A0-IN platform, validates the Group’s strategy of developing products designed in India, for India and the world, with a focus on quality, safety, and localisation.

To support Kylaq production, Škoda Auto Volkswagen India has increased capacity by 30 per cent at its Chakan manufacturing facility, while also strengthening partnerships with domestic suppliers to achieve higher levels of local sourcing. These efforts form part of the Group’s broader strategy to deepen local engineering capabilities, enhance supply-chain resilience, and support India’s manufacturing ambitions.
