Ather Energy Rolls Out Infinite Cruise on Ather 450X via OTA Update

Bengaluru: Ather Energy Ltd. has announced the rollout of Infinite Cruise on the Ather 450X, further strengthening its software-led innovation strategy. The feature is being enabled through an over-the-air (OTA) update and will be available as a standard feature, with riders receiving an on-screen notification on their scooter dashboard.

Infinite Cruise™ was first unveiled on the Ather Apex 450 at Ather Community Day in August 2025 and has been specifically engineered for Indian riding conditions.

Cruise Control Designed for Indian City Traffic

Unlike conventional cruise control systems designed for constant highway speeds, Infinite Cruise is optimised for urban riding, where average speeds are often below 30 kmph and road conditions include heavy traffic, uneven surfaces and frequent speed variations.

A key differentiator of Infinite Cruise is its persistent operation. The system does not disengage when the rider brakes or accelerates. Instead, it dynamically adapts to rider inputs and recalibrates to the new speed automatically, eliminating the need for repeated reactivation. This enables smoother riding in stop-and-go traffic while reducing throttle fatigue.

Operates From 10 kmph to 90 kmph

Infinite Cruise functions across a wide speed range of 10 kmph to 90 kmph, covering use cases traditionally outside the scope of standard cruise control systems. The feature integrates multiple intelligent riding aids, including:

CityCruise: Automatically adapts to changing traffic speeds
Hill Control: Maintains steady speed on inclines and descents using regenerative braking and Ather’s Magic Braking Algorithm
Crawl Control: Enables stable low-speed cruising on rough or uneven roads
Multimode Traction Control: Improves grip on wet or slippery surfaces

Together, these systems enhance safety, stability and rider comfort during daily commutes.

Backward Compatibility for Existing Ather 450X Owners

As part of its commitment to long-term product support, Ather Energy will roll out Infinite Cruise to over 44,000 existing Ather 450X customers who purchased their scooters from January 1, 2025 onwards. This backward compatibility reflects Ather’s long-term hardware planning and software-first product approach.
