Sony India Unveils ILCE-7V: Next-Gen Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera with AI-Powered Exmor RS Sensor

Sony India has officially introduced the ILCE-7V, the much-anticipated fifth-generation addition to its popular Alpha 7 full-frame mirrorless line-up. Powered by a newly developed partially stacked Exmor RS™ CMOS image sensor with approximately 33MP effective resolution, the ILCE-7V brings major upgrades in autofocus, tracking, image quality, and video performance—driven by the latest BIONZ XR2™ engine with integrated AI processing capabilities.

Alongside the new camera, Sony also launched the FE 28–70mm F3.5–5.6 OSS II, a compact full-frame standard zoom lens designed to complement the ILCE-7V’s high-speed continuous shooting capabilities.

Sony’s updated Real-time Tracking algorithm ensures precise subject detection and smooth tracking performance, even during complex motion—making it ideal for wildlife, sports, and high-action photography. High-resolution RAW workflows are also supported through the Imaging Edge Desktop application for enhanced post-production control.

Lightning-Fast Continuous Shooting with Minimal Distortion

The partially stacked sensor offers 4.5x faster readout speed, enabling blackout-free continuous shooting at up to 30 fps with AF/AE tracking. With 60 AF/AE calculations per second, creators can capture unpredictable moments with accuracy—even in 14-bit RAW.

Sony’s new Pre-Capture function records up to one second before the shutter is pressed, ensuring users never miss decisive moments such as pet action, sports, or wildlife behaviour.

The ILCE-7V delivers exceptional still-image performance with up to 16 stops of dynamic range, allowing natural gradients, controlled highlights, and detailed shadows—even in high-contrast scenes.

The AI-powered Auto White Balance (AWB) system uses deep learning to identify light sources with greater accuracy, maintaining consistent color tones and reducing the need for post-correction.
