BWT Alpine F1 Team to Feature Test Drivers Kush Maini and Paul Aron in Abu Dhabi

BWT Alpine Formula One Team has announced that Test and Reserve Drivers Paul Aron and Kush Maini will take to the track in the A525 during the season-ending 2025 FIA Formula One World Championship in Abu Dhabi.

Paul Aron to Participate in FP1

Paul Aron, who previously drove for Alpine in Free Practice 1 sessions at the Italian and Mexico City Grands Prix, will substitute for Pierre Gasly during Friday’s session. This will mark his third FP1 outing with the team and fifth session of the season. Aron’s development continues as he returns to Yas Marina Circuit, the same track where he first drove a Formula One car last season during the post-season Young Driver Test.

“I am looking forward to being back behind the wheel of the A525 this weekend in Abu Dhabi… I really enjoyed the post-season test at this track last year, and I am grateful to the team for giving me this latest opportunity,” said Aron.

Kush Maini to Feature in Post-Season Test

Following the race weekend, Kush Maini will make his debut in modern Formula One machinery during Tuesday’s post-season Young Driver Test. Kush has previously participated in Alpine’s Testing Previous Cars (TPC) programme and simulator sessions as part of his role in the Alpine Academy. Earlier this year, his role was expanded to Test and Reserve Driver, strengthening Alpine’s talent pool.

“I can’t wait to take part in the post-season Abu Dhabi test and have my first proper experience of the A525. The Yas Marina Circuit is one I know well from Formula 2, and I am appreciative of the team for trusting me in this role,” said Maini.

Team Perspective

Steve Nielsen, BWT Alpine F1 Sporting Director, added:

“The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend presents an excellent opportunity to call on our Test and Reserve drivers and to allow them all-important seat time in a modern Formula One car. Both Paul and Kush have worked hard this season… I am looking forward to seeing how they perform in their respective sessions at Yas Marina.”

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix marks a key moment for BWT Alpine to evaluate rising talent and provide vital experience to future Formula One drivers as they continue to develop within the team’s academy and testing programs.
