Sonalika Showcases India’s First CNG/CBG Tractor at Agrovision 2025, Ushering in a New Era of Sustainable Farming
New Delhi, 24 November 2025: Strengthening India’s push toward sustainable agriculture and green mobility, Sonalika Tractors, India’s No. 1 tractor export brand, has unveiled its first-ever CNG/CBG (Compressed Natural Gas / Compressed Bio-Gas) tractor at the 16th Agrovision 2025, held in Nagpur, Maharashtra. The breakthrough was showcased in the presence of Shri Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, and Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare.
The launch aligns with the Government of India’s progressive clean-energy missions — SATAT (Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation) and GobarDHAN, both focused on expanding the nation’s bio-gas and renewable energy ecosystem. With this unveiling, Sonalika reinforces its vision of developing future-ready tractorsthat deliver powerful performance while significantly reducing environmental impact.
Engineered for Heavy-Duty Haulage With Lower Operating Costs
The newly introduced Sonalika CNG/CBG tractor is purpose-built for heavy-duty haulage, ensuring high torque output, robust durability, and superior fuel efficiency — all essential for demanding agricultural operations. Key highlights include:
- A powerful, fuel-efficient engine operating at 2000 rated RPM
- 12+3 constant mesh transmission with a side-shift gear system
- Large 14.9×28 rear tyres for enhanced haulage performance
- A combined 40 kg fuel capacity (14 kg + 27 kg) to reduce refuelling frequency
Sonalika also showcased a tractor + trolley system designed to maximize the benefits of the rapidly expanding CNG infrastructure in rural India, further boosting farmers’ operational efficiency.
A Major Step Toward Green Mobility in Indian Agriculture
Commenting on the landmark unveiling, Mr. Raman Mittal, Joint Managing Director, International Tractors Limited, said:
“Sonalika has always been at the forefront of engineering breakthroughs, and our new CNG/CBG tractor is a significant milestone. The future of Indian farming lies in clean, smart and economically viable technologies. This new tractor strengthens India’s green mobility mission under SATAT and GobarDHAN by offering heavy-duty performance, lower operating costs, and eco-friendly fuel options. We are committed to empowering farmers with sustainable, future-ready innovations that reduce carbon footprint and build a cleaner tomorrow.”
