Marelli Wins Dual Awards for Innovative Electric Racing Front Axle at Professional MotorSport World Expo 2025
“Race E-volution 500” earns Powertrain Technology of the Year and Overall Engineering Innovation of the Year honors in Cologne
Cologne, Germany – November 13, 2025: Global mobility technology leader Marelli has been recognized with two prestigious awards at the Professional MotorSport World Expo 2025, held at Koelnmesse, Cologne, on November 12–13. The company’s new “Race E-volution 500” front axle for electric racing vehicles took home titles for “Powertrain Technology of the Year” and “Overall Engineering Innovation of the Year.”
Marelli Showcases Breakthrough Motorsport Technologies
At Booth 4068, Marelli Motorsport presented its latest innovations designed to meet the evolving demands of high-performance competition. The event, one of the world’s premier showcases for racing technology, saw Marelli unveil cutting-edge solutions for both two-wheel and four-wheel motorsport applications.
Among the highlights was the debut of the Race E-volution 500, a fully electric, ultra-compact e-axle delivering 350 kW of power, weighing just 57 kg, and occupying 19 liters in volume — achieving an exceptional power-to-weight ratio. The innovative axle represents a major step forward as global racing series continue their transition toward electrification.
Pioneering Innovation: From Powertrain to AI and Imaging
Marelli also revealed a preview of its next-generation High Speed Camera 130 (HSC-130). The miniaturized, AI-enabled camera captures 500 frames per second at 1 megapixel, delivering intelligent, high-performance video capabilities under any lighting conditions. This innovation enhances driver safety monitoring and sets new standards in motorsport data visualization.
Complementing these breakthroughs, Marelli showcased its full range of motorsport-grade technologies, including:
- ECUs and data loggers
- Dashboards and telemetry devices such as the Smart Antenna
- Fuel pumps, ignition coils, and GDI injectors for both cars and motorcycles
- AI-powered control units such as the award-winning VEC-480 and the new VEC-200, a compact, high-performance controller featuring advanced AI computing and high-frequency data logging.
Driving the Future of Electric Racing
The dual awards underscore Marelli’s leadership in advancing motorsport electrification and intelligent vehicle systems.
“These recognitions reflect Marelli’s ongoing commitment to innovation and excellence in motorsport technology,” said a company spokesperson. “Our focus remains on delivering transformative solutions that drive performance, sustainability, and safety for teams around the world.”
