Škoda Fans Create History at Umling La with Record-Breaking Convoy

Umling La, Ladakh, October 2025: In a remarkable celebration of passion, endurance, and the spirit of exploration, fans of Škoda Auto India created history by setting a new record at Umling La — the world’s highest motorable road at 19,024 ft. A convoy of 28 Škoda vehicles, including the Kodiaq, Kushaq, Slavia, Kylaq, and even the legendary Yeti, successfully ascended to the summit, earning recognition from both the India Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records as the largest convoy of cars to reach Umling La.

Conquering the Road Less Travelled

Covering over 3,000 km of rugged Himalayan terrain, the Škoda convoy braved extreme weather, steep inclines, river crossings, and temperatures ranging from -5°C to 25°C. The journey culminated at Umling La, where the convoy set the record for the largest group of cars to reach the highest motorable road on Earth.

The expedition brought together 60 Škoda fans from across India — including families, doctors, marathoners, parents, children, and first-time adventurers. The convoy started from Manali, traversed Leh, Khardung La, Pangong Tso, Hanle, and even Thang, India’s last village, before conquering the heights of Umling La at sub-zero temperatures.

Škoda India’s Record-Breaking 2025

This achievement comes amid a stellar year for Škoda Auto India. In the first half of 2025, the company recorded its highest-ever half-yearly sales of 36,194 units — marking a 134% growth over H1 2024. This was followed by a robust Q3 performance, with 17,161 cars sold, representing 110% growth year-on-year.

Cumulatively, Škoda India has sold 53,355 units between January and September 2025, while expanding its customer network to over 315 touchpoints across 179 cities. In its 25th year in India, Škoda continues to drive forward with relevance, differentiation, and trust — both on and off the road.
