MotoGP Indonesia 2025: Bezzecchi Leads as Marc Marquez Crashes Twice and Misses Q2

Mandalika, Indonesia – October 3, 2025 – The Indonesian MotoGP weekend exploded into life with unexpected drama on Friday as newly crowned World Champion Marc Marquez endured a nightmare session, crashing twice and missing out on a direct Q2 spot for the first time this season. On a difficult afternoon for Ducati Lenovo, teammate Francesco Bagnaia also failed to make the cut, setting up a high-stakes Q1 showdown.

In contrast, Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) was untouchable at the top of the timesheets, storming to P1 with a commanding 1:29.240, nearly four tenths faster than Fermin Aldeguer (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) in P2 and Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) in P3.

Marc Marquez’s Double Crash Shock

It was far from smooth sailing for the #93. Marquez crashed early at Turn 10, dropping to P17, before suffering a heavy fall at Turn 5 – his first double crash in a single session since the 2024 Indonesian GP. Despite a late push that briefly elevated him to P6, further improvements from Yamaha and Aprilia riders relegated the World Champion to P12, snapping his 100% Friday top-10 record in 2025.

Adding to Ducati’s woes, Bagnaia’s final flying lap was canceled due to yellow flags from Johann Zarco’s crash, leaving the Italian down in P16. This marks the first time since the 2023 Valencian GP that both factory Ducati riders will contest Q1 together.
