American Rising Star Emma Scarbrough to Join KICK Sauber F1 Team for F1 Academy Rookie Test in Navarra
Navarra, Spain – September 12, 2025 – KICK Sauber F1 Team has confirmed that American racing talent Emma Scarbrough will take part in the first-ever F1 Academy rookie test, scheduled for September 17–18 at the Circuito de Navarra. The 17-year-old from Atlanta, Georgia, will drive a team-branded car operated by Rodin Motorsport, participating in a six-hour programme spread across two sessions.
Scarbrough, who began her racing journey in karting, is already regarded as one of America’s most promising young female drivers. Currently competing in the USF Juniors Championship, she sits 14th in the standings in her rookie season and is the top female driver in the series. Alongside her U.S. campaign, she has also been gaining valuable experience in Europe through multiple F4 test outings, positioning herself for the next stage of her single-seater career.
A Milestone Opportunity in F1 Academy
The rookie test at Navarra is designed to give emerging drivers the chance to work closely with F1 Academy teams, while undergoing engineering briefings, physical and cognitive assessments, and on-track sessions. The programme aims to prepare young female drivers to succeed at the highest levels of motorsport.
Jonathan Wheatley, Team Principal of KICK Sauber F1 Team, expressed his support:
“We are pleased to support Emma as she takes part in the F1 Academy rookie test. She is a determined young driver with plenty of potential, and this opportunity marks an important step in her development path. F1 Academy is doing a fantastic job in creating opportunities for young female drivers, and we are proud to back that effort with Rodin Motorsport.”
Scarbrough Ready for the Challenge
Excited about her debut, Scarbrough said:
“I am thrilled to take part in the F1 Academy rookie test at Navarra. This two-day programme is groundbreaking for drivers like me aiming for the upper levels of motorsport. I am grateful to KICK Sauber F1 Team, Rodin Motorsport, and F1 Academy for this chance, and I intend to prove their trust is well placed.”

“Emma has already demonstrated real promise in her early career. The F1 Academy rookie test will be a valuable opportunity for her to learn and show her talent on an international stage, and we’re proud to support her alongside KICK Sauber F1 Team.”
Looking Ahead
As F1 Academy continues to expand opportunities for women in motorsport, Emma Scarbrough’s participation represents a significant step in her development journey. With the backing of KICK Sauber F1 Team and Rodin Motorsport, the young American is poised to make the most of her rookie test debut and continue her rise in single-seater racing.
