Pierre Gasly Extends Alpine F1 Contract Until 2028, Strengthening Team’s Future Ahead of New Regulations
Monza, Italy – September 6, 2025: During the Italian Grand Prix weekend at Monza, the BWT Alpine Formula One Team confirmed that French driver Pierre Gasly has extended his contract with the team until the end of the 2028 FIA Formula One World Championship season.
The new deal secures Gasly’s long-term future with Alpine, reaffirming both the driver’s commitment and the team’s faith in him as their leader into the upcoming 2026 regulation era and beyond. The extension also comes under the guidance of Flavio Briatore and with the full backing of the Renault Group, led by new CEO François Provost.
Gasly, who joined Alpine in 2023, will now spend at least six seasons with the Enstone-based outfit. Since his arrival, he has consistently demonstrated speed, reliability, and leadership, contributing significantly to the team’s development. His standout moments include podium finishes at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix and the 2024 São Paulo Grand Prix, along with helping Alpine secure sixth place in the Constructors’ Championship last season.

“I’m thrilled to commit my long-term future to Alpine. As a Frenchman, driving for a French car company makes me feel very proud. Since I joined in 2023, I have always felt this team is the right place to be for the future. Flavio’s support, François’ commitment, and the dedication of everyone at Enstone made this decision natural. I want to be here in the years to come to deliver on our joint objective: winning races and world championships. We’re all in this together, and I look forward to continuing this special story,” Gasly said.
Flavio Briatore on Gasly’s Leadership
Team principal Flavio Briatore praised Gasly’s contribution and importance to Alpine’s long-term project:
“Since I returned to the team, I have always stressed how crucial it is to build competitiveness. We are well prepared for the 2026 Formula One era, and now with Pierre as our confirmed lead driver, we have the right foundation for success. He has been an immense asset during a challenging period, showing dedication and talent. We look forward to continuing this journey together.”
