Alonso Cautious, Antonelli Ready, and Colapinto Excited Ahead of Italian Grand Prix at Monza

Monza, Italy – September 5, 2025 – The Formula 1 grid is set for an electrifying weekend at the iconic Autodromo Nazionale Monza, with Fernando Alonso, Kimi Antonelli, and Franco Colapinto sharing their thoughts ahead of the Italian Grand Prix.

Alonso: “Monza Will Be a Challenge”

Two-time world champion Fernando Alonso struck a cautious tone as he previewed the race. While his recent performances in Hungary and Zandvoort were promising, Alonso acknowledged Monza’s long straights may not suit his car as well.

“We come to Monza a little bit more cautious about our performance. Spa wasn’t strong for us, but we’ve made changes since then, so hopefully we’re a bit better,” Alonso explained.

Despite early struggles this season, Alonso highlighted his team’s progress:

“At the beginning, we didn’t have a car to be in the top 10. Now we can fight in the midfield and score points regularly. Aerodynamically, the car is much more stable.”

Looking ahead, Alonso sees Singapore and Brazil as potential strongholds but insists every weekend will be approached with maximum effort.

Antonelli: “A Special Weekend at Home”

For Kimi Antonelli, Monza holds deep personal significance. It was here last year that Mercedes announced his Formula 1 promotion, and now the Italian returns for what he calls his “second home race.”

“It’s a really special place, with good and bad memories. But this is where it all started for me, and that makes it special,” Antonelli said.

On car performance, Antonelli remained optimistic:

“The car has been good at tracks where it was strong last year, so hopefully it will be the same. The old suspension gives us more confidence, so hopefully, we’ll have good pace.”

Having learned lessons from the intense spotlight of Imola, Antonelli plans a more focused approach this weekend:

“I definitely know much better what to expect. I know how to manage my time to be 100% every time I go in the car.”

Colapinto: “Monza Brings Back Special Memories”

Franco Colapinto returns to Monza, the track where he made his Formula 1 debut a year ago. For the Argentine, the memories are still fresh.

“It was a dream come true last year. Being back brings a lot of flashbacks, and Monza is always amazing with the Tifosi and passionate fans,” Colapinto said.

After edging close to the points in recent races, Colapinto feels his confidence is growing:

“I feel much more in control and confident with the car. The last two races have been more competitive, and we’ve shown we’re close to the points. If we maximize our opportunities, we can have a good weekend.”

Italian Grand Prix Build-Up

With Alonso cautious but motivated, Antonelli eager to shine in front of home fans, and Colapinto chasing his first points at the legendary circuit, the stage is set for another thrilling weekend of Formula 1 at Monza.
