Johann Zarco Extends LCR Honda Deal Until 2027, First Rider Confirmed for New MotoGP Era
September 2, 2025: The LCR Honda MotoGP team have confirmed that Johann Zarco will remain with the squad for another two years, securing his place on the grid until the end of the 2027 season. The Frenchman becomes the first rider to sign a contract that stretches into MotoGP’s new 2027 technical regulations, marking a significant step for both Honda and the series.
Factory Rider Status Secured
Zarco’s new agreement is once again directly with Honda Racing Corporation (HRC), ensuring his continued status as a factory rider. This guarantees him access to the same technical specifications, updates, and developments as Honda’s official factory team, reinforcing the Japanese manufacturer’s trust in the competitive package formed by Zarco and the LCR Castrol Honda outfit.
Success Together: Wins and Podiums
Since joining LCR Honda in 2024, Zarco has forged a strong partnership with the team, highlighted by his incredible victory at Le Mans in May and a podium finish at Silverstone. The extension signals confidence that more top results are possible as the collaboration heads into a crucial new era for MotoGP.
Johann Zarco on His New Deal
“I’m very pleased to confirm that I will stay with LCR for the next two years. This is important because we have big goals to achieve and great opportunities looking ahead to 2027. When I signed with Honda at the end of 2023, I didn’t expect to find that second wind, which gave me the energy to secure another two-year contract with them. We already achieved one victory with Lucio and the team, and it would be fantastic to experience that again. Honda has provided great support, and we believe we can continue growing and developing the bike,” said Zarco.
LCR Honda’s Confidence in Zarco
Team Principal Lucio Cecchinello praised the extension, highlighting Zarco’s role in Honda’s future:
“Working with Johann is simply extraordinary; his professionalism is impeccable both on and off the track. We are pleased that HRC has renewed its trust in him, and we are confident his contribution to the development of the RCV in 2026 and 2027 will be crucial in our mission to bring Honda back to the top of the rankings.”
Looking Ahead to 2027
With MotoGP set to introduce new technical regulations in 2027, Zarco’s extension ensures continuity and experience for Honda at a pivotal moment in the championship. The Frenchman’s deal reflects both his proven ability and Honda’s determination to return to the top of MotoGP.
