Mumbai, September 1, 2025 – Tata Motors Limited today reported total sales of 73,178 units in the domestic and international market for August 2025, compared to 71,693 units in August 2024, marking a steady year-on-year growth.


Domestic Sales Performance

Tata Motors sold 68,482 vehicles in the domestic market in August 2025, compared to 70,006 units in August 2024, a marginal decline of 2%.


Commercial Vehicles: Double-Digit Growth

The Commercial Vehicles (CV) segment showed strong performance, with total sales rising 10% year-on-year to 29,863 units (Aug’24: 27,207).

  • ILMCV Trucks: 5,711 units (↑15%)
  • Passenger Carriers: 3,577 units (↑5%)
  • SCV Cargo & Pickup: 10,742 units (↑4%)

  • CV International Business (IB): 2,382 units (↑77%)

Sales of medium, heavy, and intermediate commercial vehicles (MH&ICV) in the domestic market, including trucks and buses, reached 13,405 units, up from 12,008 units last year. The combined domestic and international MH&ICV sales rose to 14,667 units, compared to 12,708 units in August 2024.


Passenger Vehicles: EVs Lead the Charge

In the Passenger Vehicles (PV) segment, total sales including exports stood at 43,315 units, down 3% year-on-year (Aug’24: 44,486).

  • Domestic PV Sales (incl. EVs): 41,001 units (↓7%)
  • PV International Business (IB): 2,314 units (↑573%)
  • EV Sales (Domestic + IB)8,540 units, up 44% year-on-year, marking Tata Motors’ highest-ever monthly EV sales.

The record EV sales highlight growing consumer confidence in electric vehicles and reinforce Tata Motors’ role in driving India’s transition toward green, zero-emission mobility.
