Marc Marquez Extends Sprint Dominance with Victory at Balaton Park MotoGP
Balaton Park, Hungary – August 23, 2025: For the 13th time in 14 rounds, Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team)has taken victory in a Tissot Sprint, keeping his 2025 winning streak alive in spectacular fashion. The eight-time World Champion avoided opening-lap chaos at Turn 1 and rode unchallenged to another masterclass performance at the Michelin Grand Prix of Hungary.
Joining Marquez on the podium were Fabio Di Giannantonio and Franco Morbidelli – a superb Saturday double for the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team.
Turn 1 Drama Shapes the Sprint
From pole position, Marquez launched perfectly and held the lead into Turn 1. But behind him, Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) made a costly error on the brakes, colliding with Enea Bastianini (Red Bull KTM Tech3).
While Bastianini somehow stayed upright – only to drop to P18 – Quartararo crashed out instantly. The incident also disrupted Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing), forcing him down the order and into recovery mode.
Bastianini Out After Lap 1 Incident
Lap 1 provided more drama at Turn 9, this time with Bastianini at fault. Attempting an aggressive move on Johann Zarco (Castrol Honda LCR), the Italian clipped his rival, taking both riders out of contention.
Marquez Leads, Acosta Crashes Out
With chaos unfolding behind, Marquez stretched his lead over the VR46 duo. By Lap 5, Di Giannantonio trailed the #93 by 1.1s, with Morbidelli a further second adrift.
Further down, Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) saw his Sprint hopes end early. On Lap 6, the rookie crashed at Turn 11 while battling Jorge Martin (Aprilia Racing) for P10 – a bitter blow after topping Friday’s practice.
