Silverstone Festival 2025 Celebrates 75 Years of Formula 1 with Historic World Champions Collection
Silverstone, UK – August Bank Holiday Weekend 2025 – Motorsport fans are in for a once-in-a-lifetime treat as the Silverstone Festival opens its gates this Friday at 8:00am, delivering three days of thrilling track action and family-friendly entertainment.
This year’s event marks the 75th anniversary of Formula 1 at the birthplace of the championship, with a spectacular centrepiece: the World Champions Collection. For the first time ever, fans will see an extraordinary display honouring all 34 Formula 1 World Champions, from Giuseppe Farina (1950) to reigning champion Max Verstappen (2024).
A Historic Grid Display at Silverstone
The curtain-raiser on Thursday night set the tone for the Festival as all 34 title-winning cars were dramatically assembled on the famous Silverstone grid. The front row alone showcased five legendary machines carrying a combined 24 World Championship titles:
- Alfa Romeo 158 of Farina and Fangio
- Red Bull RB18 of Verstappen
- Tyrrell 006 (1973) of Sir Jackie Stewart
- McLaren MP4/2B (1985) of Alain Prost
- Mercedes-AMG F1 W11 (2020) of Sir Lewis Hamilton
Also featured were icons of Britain’s rich F1 legacy, including Nigel Mansell’s Williams FW14B (1992), Jim Clark’s Lotus 25 R4 (1963), and Graham Hill’s BRM P578 (1962), alongside global legends such as Michael Schumacher’s Benetton 191 (1991) and Fernando Alonso’s Renault R25 (2005).
The Collection also pays tribute to John Surtees CBE, the only man to win world titles on both two and four wheels. Fans can admire one of his MV Agusta motorcycles alongside his Surtees F1 car from 1970.
A Celebration of Champions and Families
The showcase uniquely honours Formula 1’s famous family dynasties. Graham Hill’s BRM is paired with Damon Hill’s 1996 Williams FW18, while Keke Rosberg’s 1982 Williams FW08 sits alongside son Nico Rosberg’s 2016 Mercedes W07 – each machine representing world title glory.
“It was just extraordinary to see all these incredible title winners from the past 75 years grouped together here on the grid at Silverstone,” said Nick Wigley, Event Director. “It is an unforgettable sight.”
The World Champions Collection will be open to the public in Silverstone’s International Paddock across all three days of the Festival.
