Pirelli Reveals Tyre Compound Choices for All Remaining Races of the 2025 F1 Season

Pirelli, the official tyre supplier for Formula 1, has revealed its dry tyre compound selections for the final ten races of the 2025 Formula 1 season, marking several strategic changes compared to last year. The decision, made in consultation with the FIA and F1, reflects updated data and aims to encourage more dynamic race strategies and improve the on-track spectacle.

Strategic Tweaks Begin at Zandvoort

The changes kick off with the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, where Pirelli has opted for a softer step than in 2024. This year’s race will see:

  • C2 (Hard)
  • C3 (Medium)
  • C4 (Soft)

This contrasts with last year’s C1-C2-C3 selection, where most teams completed the race with a single pit stop, prompting Pirelli to soften the compound range to encourage greater strategy variation.

Baku Gets the C6: A New Tyre Returns

The C6 compound, introduced this year as Pirelli’s softest slick tyre, returns for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix in Baku. The selected compounds are:

  • C4 (Hard)
  • C5 (Medium)
  • C6 (Soft)

This is a step softer than 2024’s C3-C4-C5 mix and is expected to widen the strategic window for teams.

Compound Skips in the Americas

Pirelli will skip a compound step for two races in the Americas to shake up strategy options:

  • Austin (USA GP):
    • C1 (Hard) – harder than last year’s C2
    • C3 (Medium)
    • C4 (Soft)
  • Mexico City GP:
    • C2 (Hard) – harder than last year’s C3
    • C4 (Medium)
    • C5 (Soft)

This approach reflects Pirelli’s attempt to offer more dynamic and unpredictable tyre performance windows across varied track conditions.

Sao Paulo Gets a Harder Mix

For the Brazilian Grand Prix at Interlagos, Pirelli reverts to the harder trio of C2-C3-C4, abandoning the C5 used in 2024 which underperformed during the race. The decision is aimed at ensuring durability while preserving the pace needed for the demanding circuit.

No Changes for Five Familiar Venues

Five races will see the same compound selections as 2024:

  • Monza (Italian GP)
  • Singapore GP
  • Las Vegas GP
  • Abu Dhabi GP

All four will use:

  • C3 (Hard)
  • C4 (Medium)
  • C5 (Soft)

Meanwhile, Qatar, one of the toughest circuits on tyres, retains the hardest combination in the range:

  • C1 (Hard)
  • C2 (Medium)
  • C3 (Soft)

Pirelli’s Aim: Better Strategy, Better Racing

Mario Isola, Pirelli’s Director of Motorsport, explained the rationale:

“We decided to announce the compound choices for all remaining races in order to allow teams to prepare as well as possible for all the coming rounds. There are some changes, made in consultation with the FIA and the championship promoter and they are based on an analysis of the data gathered and the simulation work. The choices are always made with the aim of balancing out the validity of the one or two-stop strategy, to increase excitement and deliver a better show.”

As the 2025 season heads into its final stretch, Pirelli’s revised approach signals a renewed effort to fuel strategic varietypit stop unpredictability, and closer racing, all while keeping the teams on their toes.
