Fernando Alonso’s Championship-Winning Renault R25 Joins Silverstone Festival’s World Champions Collection
In a major highlight for motorsport fans, Fernando Alonso’s legendary Renault R25 – the car that secured his first Formula 1 World Championship in 2005 – will be on public display at the upcoming Silverstone Festival, taking place from 22–24 August 2025. The iconic car joins the highly anticipated World Champions Collection, a centrepiece exhibit celebrating 75 years of Formula 1 and its greatest legends.
Alonso’s 2005 season was a milestone in F1 history. Driving the Renault R25, the then 24-year-old Spaniard clinched seven Grand Prix victories, six pole positions, and 14 podium finishes, becoming the youngest World Champion at the time and the first Spaniard ever to win the coveted F1 Drivers’ title. The R25 also holds historical significance as the final title-winning car of the V10 engine era, cherished by fans for its distinctive, high-revving sound.
Alonso’s car will be displayed alongside those of the other 33 F1 World Champions since the championship began at Silverstone in 1950, making this year’s World Champions Collection a once-in-a-lifetime showcase for racing enthusiasts. As part of the Formula 1 75th anniversary celebrations, the collection pays tribute to the legends who have shaped the sport over the decades.
Nick Wigley, Event Director of the Silverstone Festival, expressed his excitement:
“Alonso is one of three World Champions still racing in Formula 1 today, and his passion for the sport has made him a fan favourite across generations. We are thrilled that Alpine F1 – Renault’s modern successor – is bringing this iconic machine to Silverstone. It will undoubtedly add even more star power to the incredible World Champions Collection.”
In addition to the headline attraction, this year’s festival will also host 20 retro races, including five crowd-pulling Formula 1 showdowns featuring classic F1 machinery from past eras. The action-packed programme will see motorsport fans treated to three full days of nostalgia, speed, and celebration.
Whether you’re a lifelong Alonso supporter or a motorsport aficionado reliving F1’s golden eras, the Silverstone Festival 2025 promises an unforgettable experience. With the legendary Renault R25 now confirmed, it’s a must-attend event for fans of Formula 1 history and its most iconic champions.
