Škoda Unveils First Look at Vision O Concept Estate Ahead of Global Premiere in Munich

Škoda Auto has officially revealed the first details of its much-anticipated Vision O concept car, a bold new design study that will make its world premiere in Munich in early September. The Vision O not only previews the future of Škoda’s estate (station wagon) segment but also marks a significant evolution of the brand’s Modern Solid design language—underpinned by sustainability, innovation, and a 130-year legacy in automotive craftsmanship.

With this new concept, Škoda aims to set a new benchmark for estate vehicles as it transitions into an electrified and eco-conscious future. According to Škoda Auto CEO Klaus Zellmer, the Vision O is a forward-looking interpretation of what estates will look like in the era of digital mobility and sustainable development.

“The Škoda Vision O design study will highlight the future trajectory of estate models under the influence of new technologies, sustainability, and the deep experience of Škoda Auto in this segment,” Zellmer said. “This will be one of our most significant steps in evolving our design language. It will position us to remain a major player in the estate segment, where Škoda Auto has been engaged since the 1920s.”

A New Chapter in Škoda Design

The Vision O stands as a natural yet bold evolution of Škoda’s Modern Solid design philosophy. At first glance, the car features a sleek and aerodynamic silhouette that combines the timeless characteristics of Škoda estates—such as a steeply raked windscreen and a gracefully sloping roofline—with contemporary styling elements like clean surface treatments and light contours.

Škoda has stated that the “O” in Vision O refers to circularity, representing the company’s holistic approach to recycling, reuse, and sustainability. The concept emphasizes minimal environmental impact through sustainable material choices and production techniques, echoing the growing global focus on eco-friendly vehicle development.

Fusing Form, Function, and Sustainability

Škoda says the Vision O embodies a perfect synergy of utility, comfort, and user-centric features. The interior is expected to offer enhanced versatility—true to the estate legacy—while integrating cutting-edge technology to elevate the driver and passenger experience. Though official images and technical details remain under wraps, the concept is widely anticipated to offer modular cabin configurations and digital-first controls.

A Legacy Reinvented

The Vision O is not just a futuristic glimpse but also a tribute to Škoda’s extensive estate lineage. Škoda began producing estate cars as far back as the 1920s, with models like the L&K 110 paving the way for modern versatility. The Octavia estate, a cornerstone of Škoda’s global success, has surpassed over 3 million units sold since 1998, making it the most successful estate in the brand’s history.

Other iconic Škoda wagons include the Superb estate (launched in 2008), the classic Škoda 1101 Tudor Station Wagon with its innovative folding rear seat, and the 1200/1201/1202 family, each contributing to the brand’s storied past.

Global Debut Set for IAA Munich 2025

The Škoda Vision O will be unveiled at the prestigious IAA Mobility Show in Munich at the beginning of September 2025. The reveal is expected to generate significant buzz, as it sets the stage for the next generation of estate vehicles tailored for the electric age.

With its Vision O, Škoda Auto is reaffirming its position as a frontrunner in the estate category—honouring its roots while boldly stepping into a future defined by sustainable mobility and intelligent design.
